Sunday Roundup

Sunday 5 October

Wow! I actually begun writing this on the correct day. Albeit at 2350 on Sunday but I will claim that it is on time

Another fairly standard week. Well not really. Painkillers until until Wednesday was the norm. I had 2 exams which were taken under the influence of the strong painkillers. Never fare I got 89% on one and am still to get my second result. Now the only pain is when I try and eat a taco and bite the meat directly into one of my holes.

Anywho I’m off the drugs and onto booze. On Wednesday my sports marketing lecturer got the marketing guy from the town’s hockey team to come in. He gave us free tickets to the first game and was going to try to get us into the VIP box at no extra charge. I was looking forward to this, especially the VIP box. So Friday came around and another proposition came up. Every first Friday of the month (maybe, I don’t know) there is an event call ‘First Friday of the Month’ where the local art galleries open up, give out food and drink etc. Now I’m not much of an arts person so the choice was obvious.

We made our way downtown to catchup with Shannen, Fiona and Elliot, who had already been to a few galleries with some classmates, in time to make it into the last few galleries and a gift shop. The art was very though provoking, there is one picture in particular I am still thinking about as it has blown my sober mind. How can a crudely drawn picture of a nude woman with a ghost in hair, riding a duck in front of the Eiffel Tower be worth $15,000? I am in the wrong line of study. There were some really fantastic pieces of art on display from my non-arts background. But seriously the pricing is incredible. Even for photos, a small wolf in the vast snowy desert, causing the wolf to be barely the size of a beetle is apparently worth more than a, frankly brilliant, extreme closeup of  snowy bison. Anywho food was next on the agenda so we made haste to a local eating establishment. Gourmet burgers were the norm and I was peer pressured into photographing my food. When in Rome and all…

Glass of a clear fluid in vodka glass. Is it vodka?
Beer!!
The famed “Mandolin Burger”
Ginger Angel? Bah, not real
Here is the ‘Ginger Angel’ in all its glory

I had to try the mythical mythical ‘Ginger Angel’ because as we all know they don’t exist.

Saturday saw a small group of us head downtown for salsa dancing. After some predrinking and great food we caught a taxi to another house closer to downtown where the predrinking continued. The taxi driver earned his tip in dodgy and racist jokes which should not be repeated on my family friendly blog. The dancing itself was pretty fun, although while my feet are majestic footballing feet, they are complete club feet when it comes to dancing. After a few hours and more food (guacamole!) we moved on to to a club where we hoped there would be fine music. There wasn’t. Just some poxy rap group who have an extremely limited vocabulary. I think they might have been talking a lot about hockey pucks in every song, but I may have been confused… After  couple of shot we decided to call it a night and began to cool down, eventually making it back to my room at around half 2 in the morning. Just in time to discuss my homelessness and possible solution with my main man back home.

So ends another enjoyable week. Time is flying by too fast. A mere 10 more weeks to go.

Don’t forget the competition which I have decided to keep open. Only my dear Mother has voted on me being chubby on return to NZ. You guys are far too shy by the way. This feels like I’m yelling to nobody.

Next Week

I have three video specials coming up next week. Be sure not to miss them, they will be well worth the time you will not get back by watching them.
